On Sunday, 27th October, we had the absolute honour of performing at Walk for Prems, celebrating 10 years of this beautiful event organised by Life’s Little Treasures Foundation.
As we arrived at Arthur Davis Park, we were instantly moved by the incredible turnout. Families, friends, volunteers, and supporters had all come together to walk in solidarity, raise awareness, and honour the tiniest of fighters—babies born premature or sick, and those whose lives were heartbreakingly short.
Since becoming parents ourselves, we’ve gained a whole new perspective on the preciousness of life. But we know we can never fully grasp the depth of grief some families face after losing a child to prematurity. That kind of loss is unimaginable, and yet it was met that day with so much strength, love, and unity.
A Poignant and Powerful Start
Tears welled in our eyes as we listened to heartfelt speeches from volunteers and sponsors. The words were raw and real, reminding us just how many people have walked this path—some quietly, some still walking it now.
After a touching poem, a handful of families released white doves into the sky, a symbolic and emotional tribute to the little lives no longer with us. It was a moment that took the air from our lungs and stayed with us long after the feathers had faded into the breeze.
A Day to Celebrate and Support
The sun was shining, a cool breeze swept through the park, and the atmosphere became a beautiful mix of remembrance and celebration. Children laughed and bounced on the jumping castle, food vans filled the air with delicious scents, and of course—there was live entertainment.
We played our first set, taking in the joy and hope that music brings to moments like this. Afterwards, a wonderful circus/magic duo took the stage and lit up the morning with laughter and amazement. The kids were captivated—and so were we.
A Personal Moment of Gratitude
We stole a quiet moment between sets to take it all in. Watching the children play and imagining our little girl, Norah, growing up to dance and laugh at events like these—it filled our hearts. We held each other and whispered a quiet “thank you” to the universe.
